South/East Stage

The music at South Country Fair is coordinated by our incredible Artistic Director Steven Foord who works diligently to produce an eclectic and exciting line up each year. In order to aid campers in combating extreme temperatures during peak-heat hours, daytime programming focuses on acoustic performances, workshops, and Awareness activities in selected (shady) spots around the site. Amplified performances take place from 6pm-12am, with two stages operating side-by-side in the alternating stage format.  South Stage is the national/international touring venue at SCF, and East Stage is tuned to present emerging, working artists who have touring experience and a recorded body of of original material. We focus on the roots and folk idiom but also present a wide range drawing from traditional, contemporary and experimental genres among others. Submissions open in September of a given year and booking is usually complete by the end of February.  Due to the high volume of applications received, only successful applicants will be contacted directly.

PLEASE INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

Standard EPKs including:

  • Sample of your music
  • Visual sample (video) if possible
  • Short bio/description of your music

Lotus Land

Lotos Land is our spoken word venue. Think bare word sets, though acoustic accompaniment with a single instrument for part of the set isn’t minded.  Your words should be able to stand on their own!

PLEASE INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • A link to at least three (3) of your performances
  • A list of past events/performances
  • A Referral from a past event coordinator

Volunteer

Volunteer

Did you know that the SCF is powered ENTIRELY by volunteers? Yup, it takes a village of awesome people to put on this amazing festival every year. Not only do our volunteers supply all of the labour at the Fair; they also help to create the wonderful COMMUNITY that is the Fair. A large part of the responsibility of being a volunteer at the Fair is to spread the love and to ensure that others are feeling the love. We want everyone’s experience at the Fair to be a pleasant one. Our volunteers do their best to make sure this is the case.

Time Commitment

During the festival weekend (Thursday – Sunday) the standard time commitment is 8-12hours. The minimum time commitment for set up and strike crews is 12-36 hours. Shift times may vary depending on the crew and shift availability.

New volunteers must visit the volunteer tent for a debriefing prior to their first shifts. All volunteers must check in at the volunteer tent prior to their shift beginning, unless otherwise prearranged with their coordinator.

Volunteer Placement

You’ll be placed on a crew where most needed. Your preferences will be considered but your skill level matched with the greatest need will determine placement. Every effort is made to ensure that you are happy with your placement, and we are pretty flexible when it comes to placing people with friends and family if we are able to!

Volunteer Benefits

  • A super cool SCF volunteer t-shirt
  • Early access to on-site camping (volunteer access beginning Thursday from 5-9pm)
  • Special volunteer ticket pricing
  • Delicious snacks and thirst-quenching water while on shift
  • Behind the scenes involvement in one of the best music festivals in Canada!
