Calling All Artists

Each year, South Country Fair brings together musicians, storytellers, poets, and workshop leaders who shape the spirit of the weekend. From touring acts to new voices, from folk songs to movement sessions, The Fair thrives on range, skill, and shared craft. We welcome artists of all kinds to apply. Programming is built to spark connection, reflection, and joy.

Artist Applications

Applications are reviewed by the leads for each programming area, with selection based on artistic merit, fit, and the overall balance of the weekend. Submission requirements differ depending on the stream and may include samples of work, past experience, and supporting materials. Artists are encouraged to apply early and ensure all requested materials are included.

South/East Stage

The music at South Country Fair is coordinated by our Artistic Director Maureen Chambers, who brings together an eclectic mix of artists each year. Daytime programming leans into acoustic sets, workshops, and Awareness activities in shady gathering spots, while amplified performances run from 6pm to 12am on alternating stages. South Stage features established touring acts, while East Stage highlights emerging artists with original recorded work across roots, folk, and beyond.

Submissions must include:

  • Standard EPK
  • Music sample
  • Visual sample (video if possible)
  • Short bio or description of your music

Lotus Land

Lotus Land is the spoken word venue at South Country Fair, a space dedicated to celebrating the art of storytelling, poetry, and performance in its most direct form. While acoustic accompaniment with a single instrument is occasionally welcome, the emphasis here is on the strength of the words themselves. Bare sets that hold their own without embellishment.

Submissions must include:

  • A link to at least three (3) of your performances
  • A list of past events and performances
  • A referral from a past event coordinator

Awareness Area

The Awareness area welcomes practitioners, instructors, and facilitators interested in leading workshops that share knowledge and spark curiosity. Sessions are generally scheduled between 9am and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, with each workshop running 45 to 90 minutes and facilitated twice over the weekend. Topics range widely, from holistic health and cultural awareness to movement, food preparation, and night sky watching. Proposals outside this list are also encouraged.

Submissions must include:

  • Workshop title and brief outline
  • Bio and relevant facilitation experience
  • Preferred day and time window
  • Links to past workshops or talks (if available)
